I came to Australia with my family in 1967 as a ten-pound pom, ten years later an aunt led me to Jesus.
My early years as a Christian were in a Pentecostal church, and I have to say those early years were a tad bumpy to say the least.
Eventually I found my way to the Uniting Church in Merredin where I started to grow as a Christian, and later on became (and still am) an elder in the church.
In 2010 whilst working for the department of child protection a new work colleague asked what work I did with children I told him of the things I used to do and he said so why aren’t you doing anything now, that bought me up Sharpley, why wasn’t I doing anything at that time?
My life time love was of horses and riding, so I wondered how I could use that, God opened many doors and so Ride for life started in March 2010. A program I founded with the help of many people. Christians, Horseman and prayer warriors were all instrumental in teachi8ng young people to handle the vagaries of life through Horsemanship-.
The Ride for life program Ran for eight years and in that time, we had 73 kids participate many of whom are still in regular contact with me and tell of the things they have learned which are helping them in their life.
My deepest regret is not being able to continue with it. Ride for Life closed down in 2020 due to my ill health, I struggle that I can’t do it anymore, but everything is in Gods time.
Now I continue to be on the lay preaching roster and lead our newly formed tech team recording services and sermons for our web site and social media sites. Only God knows what he has in store for me in this next chapter of my Christian walk with him.
