This is who we are …
We are ordinary people who have found meaning and hope in our extraordinary God. We are from all different backgrounds and all walks of life. And we have families who are with us and part of us.
We are country people and we love where we live. We stretch out from Southern Cross to Kellerberrin and from Mukinbudin to Bruce Rock. Merredin is our central place – someone once said, “Merredin is in the middle of nowhere but its the centre of everything!” Living across such a vast area, we travel a lot but we do get together to share faith at least once a week in our worship service, Bible Studies, small groups or just for a cuppa.
Sometimes we can’t get together, so we have found other ways to connect. We understand the problem of isolation. Our services are recorded and are available on our Facebook page and our YouTube channel. While we started to do this for ourselves during the COVID close downs, our viewership has expanded significantly and we now have hundreds of people watching from all over the world. We also have congregations without ministry in rural Western Australia using our down-to-earth, ordinary messages because we just hold to our simple faith in Jesus.
The strange thing is that we do not have a minister/pastor – its hard to find a “specialist” prepared to come out to our neck of the woods and we really can’t afford to pay anyone anyway. So, we, the ordinary people of Merredin Church, trusting in the presence of God and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, simply soldier on, loving the people of the Wheatbelt with the love of Jesus, and caring for each other in His name.
